You can’t perform at your best if your feet hurt. Whether you’re a professional athlete or a weekend warrior, it’s essential to be mindful of taking care of your feet. At the office of Westchester Foot Care, we are dedicated to helping you maintain strong, healthy feet and ankles so that you can reach peak performance both on and off the playing field. New patients are always welcome to our state-of-the-art facility, where we provide the highest standard of personalized care.
Because your lower extremities bear all the weight of your body and more during rigorous activity, it makes perfect sense that playing sports can take a toll on your feet. Our office frequently sees patients who are in need of treatment for anything from corns, calluses, athlete’s foot, Achilles Tendinitis and heel pain, to stress fractures as well as other foot injuries or conditions.
In our office, it is our goal to help you keep up your “A” game by protecting and maintaining the health of your feet. In addition to providing a wide range of services to treat both acute and chronic foot problems, we also provide professional guidance as to how to prevent sports related foot injuries from happening in the first place.
One essential factor to keep in mind for the prevention of foot injuries while working out or playing a sport is proper footwear. It’s best to take the extra time and spend the extra money on an appropriate selection of footwear best suited to that particular activity. Supportive shoes can help you prevent conditions such as Achilles Tendinitis and heel pain (from either plantar fasciitis, heel spurs, or both). Moreover, properly fitting footwear is also essential because any excessive friction between your shoe and moving foot produces blisters, corns and calluses. A final word of advice is to be very mindful and don’t wear someone else’s shoes or walk around barefoot in communal showers and locker rooms, lest you contract a fungal or viral foot infection. These simple precautions are well worth the effort.
At the office of Westchester Foot Care, we’re dedicated to providing the highest quality of skilled and compassionate care. For more information on our practice and the many services we provide, give our office a call today.
